Water resources are extremely important ecological ensuring the survival of living beings given ecosystem. Several measures have been taken to ensure the maintenance of the quality of water bodies in all regions, therefore, the banks of these areas are by law considered permanent preservation areas proportionate in size to the width of the bed. The fulfillment of such duties would result in optimal use of these resources, however, the indiscriminate use is still common practice in many regions of Brazil. We observed many examples, especially in the state of Rondônia, used for agricultural and livestock areas that should remain intact. These practices can be controlled with an awareness program to farmers of the consequences caused by the misuse of natural resources with proper supervision of the competent bodies. The use of remote sensing techniques, such as monitoring through satellite images and preparation of thematic maps can help in practice. Given these observations, this study aimed to perform a quantitative analysis of the riparian sub-basin in the city of bamburro Rolim de Moura, Rondônia using GIS techniques. For this it was necessary to use Landsat and hydrography shapefiles and municipal division. With the Spring software held on supervised classification of the study area to quantify consolidated forest areas, secondary vegetation and deforested areas. Was observed that 33.5%  that is supposed to be intact it is deforested.
